Radio Wave Stimul festival: 4/3/2015 Rustie!

We are happy to announce our spring edition of Radio Wave Stimul festival 4.3.2015 in Meetfactory and the headliner is...Rustie!

Rustie (UK, Warp Records)
Contemporary club music is used to mix hip hop and electronics and if there is one producer who is to blame for this massive trend, then it is Rustie. Ever since the end of the last decade this scottish "beat maestro" has been pushing the evolution of British dance culture with tracks such as Zig-Zag or Jagz The Smack. His 2010 Warp Records released debut long player Glass Swords is a masterpiece of modern bass music with frenetic beats and his typical laser synth riffs sprinkled with crazy vocal snipets. Tastemaker music press such as Wire or Mixmag put Glass Swords in their album of the year lists and in the following years was Rustie given a chance to work with AllunaGeorge (After Light single) or Danny Brown (his album Old). Detroit rap weirdo can also be heard on Rustie ́s second album - 2014 ́s Green Language, which is even more ambitious and epic. 2015 world tour will also showcase immersive 3D visuals by A-Rock including lost Egyptian artefacts, swarms of birds amongst other amazing effects.

Radio Wave Stimul Festival 2014: Simian Mobile Disco and more!

Radio Wave Stimul Festival 2014, November 14th, 2014, MeetFactory, Prague

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO (UK), Dauwd (UK), Darq E Freaker (UK), 18+ (US)

This year's Radio Wave Stimul festival is dedicated to the contemporary dance music scene. On November 14th, the Czech Republic will hear the stars of British dance music Simian Mobile Disco for the firts time. The festival is also going to present three more electronic music visionaries producers Dauwd, Darq E Freaker and fresh newcomer, mysterious duo 18+.

Great albums and concerts with analogue equipment, making them a far cry from cold DJ sets. James Ford and Jas Shaw met in a rock group called Simian. The band released two albums, but became famous with the remix of the song, “We Are Your Friends”, first recorded by Justice in 2006, when the band had already broken up. From the ashes of Simian came the duo Simian Mobile Disco strictly club oriented project, which got its first hit with the song titled “Hustler”. Their debut album, Attack Decay Sustain Release (2007) was hailed as the prime example of nurave wave, and mixed rock and house with great results. The duo’s next album, called Temporary Pleasure was graced by the presence of Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip, and Beth Ditto from Gossip.

In 2010, Simian Mobile Disco started making more mainstream techno, and with their compilation album Delicacies they started their own label and club night project at Delicatessen. The band’s third album, Unpatterns, was released in 2012 and was a comeback of sorts to their eclectic sound. In the meantime, James Ford became one of the most acclaimed producers in contemporary pop music after he worked on award winning albums by Klaxons, Peaches or Arctic Monkeys. The latest album by Simian Mobile Disco this year's Whorl was recorded live in an intimate gig in Joshua Tree National Park.

An unusual usage of vocal samples, delicate harmonies and golden touch for small detailes separates this young producer from the herd of contemporary postdubstep beatmakers. In Dauwd's tracks you can find hypnotic grooves à la Caribou mixed with dense atmospherics of Burial. His rhythm patterns are indebted to house, techno and UK garage. Dauwd released a highly acclaimed EP Heat Division and few vinyl singles on prestigious labels such as Ghostly International and Kompakt. Just like all the other performers on Radio Wave Stimul lineup, this hot newcomer is going to play in the Czech Republic for the first time.

Darq E Freaker
A producer from London and member of the grime collective Nu Brand Flexxx, Darq E Freaker has worked with popular rapper Danny Brown and released tracks with the highly innovative and prestigious Scottish label Number.

This mysterious duo from the USA refuses to release any information about themselves and want their music to speak for itself. There is a lot to say for combining moody electronics with hip hop and alternative R&B. Their debut album has yet to be released, but they have already managed to astonish fans with two mixtapes and couple of singles that established them as being among the hottest new bands of the year.

Save the date: 1st October – Radio Wave STIMUL festival!

The STIMUL Festival, which has found a permanent home in the Archa Theatre, will this year feature something new. On October 1 you can experience the space of the theatre in a whole new way. Stimul has teamed up with Czech broadcaster Radio Wave to offer more than just music. A full-day program of workshops, lectures and screenings culminates in a concert featuring international stars from various alternative genres, such as famous electronic provocateur Peaches.

The day-long music program will be a truly motley event. Performers include alternative hip hop group Shabazz Palaces, a side-project of Ishmael “Butterfly” Butler from the highly respected Digable Planets, synthesizer stars of the “hypnagogic pop” wave Emeralds, shadowy post-punk performers The City Kill from Denmark, and Icelandic violoncellist Hildur Gudnadóttir, who will initiate you into the mysteries of classical instruments. All this will conclude with a DJ dance party courtesy of electronic superstar Peaches.

The concerts will be preceded by lectures and workshops with Czech and foreign musicians. Visitors will also get the chance to see screenings of interesting clips, concert recordings and music films. The day-long festival will also be broadcasted by Radio Wave. The organizers of this dramaturgical collaboration have become part of the name of the festival: Radio Wave STIMUL Festival.

Radio Wave thus gives its broadcast a new dimension. It’s the first time ever that it has invited so many international artists who listeners might know from their playlist to participate in the festival. The teaming up of Radio Wave and the STIMUL Festival in the Archa Theatre is another step in the journey towards a more musically interesting and innovative environment in the Czech Republic.

Another bit of good news for visitors is the affordable ticket price. Tickets purchased in advance cost only CZK 250.

Tickets on sale at the Archa Theatre box office (Na Poříčí 26, Prague 1, tel.: +420 221 716 333) or Ticketpro and Ticketportal outlets (subject to a booking fee).
